Gift wrap and party supplies purveyor IG Design Group is eyeing acquisitions, its chief executive has said, as the company upgraded profit guidance on the back of a strong first half.
It’s always great to hear a company doing well and wanting to expand. There are two ways a company can expand – namely organically or by way of acquisition. IG Design is making the most of the Christmas season and had a buoyant trade in its colourful wrapping paper and accessories.Look back a year and IG Designs, then International Greetings, had two main goals; reduce debt and grow the US business. Delivery on both these counts (they grew in the US by acquiring the Lang group for £2.7m, and refinanced their debt) has sent the group’s share price up by 55% this year. With such a strong base, IG Designs are now looking to buy complimentary companies.
