E-Conveyancing a possibility?

By March 21, 2017February 18th, 2021Property

The impossible dream of all practising conveyancers I shouldn’t wonder is to wake up one day and have transactions complete as swiftly as they do in other legislations, such as Australia and Canada where they are well-versed in handling instructions through to completion in under 48 hours. Here the SRA and Law Society have failed to instill the same confidence in practitioners on the merits of the e-conveyancing process or provide the financial incentives for firms to switch from the traditional conveyancing models to the case management volume based approach. The latter is certainly more accepting of e-conveyancing being used to scanning incoming documents, e-signatures and the such. The attached article however does provide some hope that all is not lost and we may be approaching the end of the old era and the dawn of a new one…but if it is simply heralding in the recycling of the HIP pack behemoth we should all resist this to the last proverbial gasp…
