Ray studied Law at Sheffield University and qualified as a solicitor in 1982. He joined Glaisyers in August 1988, becoming a Partner two years later, with responsibility for the Commercial Property department.
Ray has a wealth of experience and is passionate about all aspects of commercial property including acting for landowners on various commercial and residential developments and developers on inner city regeneration opportunities. He has acknowledged expertise in landlord, tenant and land development, acting for landlords and tenants on various commercial retail shop, office space, residential and warehouse transactions.
Ray has a keen interest in preserving the native woodlands in the UK and owns and manages a small native oak woodland. He also keeps several colonies of bees on the woodland, or do the bees keep him? He manages to combine this interest in woodlands with acting for woodland owners with related legal issues. Ray is an active member of the Small Woods Association and has written various articles for the quarterly magazine.
A lover of the great outdoors, Ray’s interest in woodland activity is extended by his enjoyment of hill walking, mountain biking and mountaineering. Ray is actively involved with the British Mountaineering Council and the BMC Landscape Working Group. These activities are balanced by a keen interest in playing and listening to music of (almost) all styles.
