Hospital Opens Pub On Dementia Ward To Stimulate Happy Memories For Patients

They hope the pub will stimulate memories of happier times for the patients, improve their overall wellbeing and encourage them to communicate more with family members and staff.

The pub has been launched to coincide with Dementia UK’s ‘Time for a Cuppa’ campaign, which asks members of the public to host tea parties throughout March to raise money for families affected by dementia

A North London hospital has opened a ‘pub’ to give dementia patients a familiar environment to visit during their stay. This is a fantastic idea, and I have seen similar themed rooms in some care homes, including a cafe and a 50’s themed hairdressers.Although the hospital pub only serves non-alcoholic drinks, it really is a drink “for medicinal purposes”.
