We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Cost Lawyer / Cost Consultant to join our Costs Law & Advocacy department. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of post-qualification experience.

We’re looking for someone with at least 2 years of cost litigation and cost drafting experience. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as excellent career development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • To undertake Cost Litigation and Cost Drafting fee earning work, to provide a profitable contribution to the department and the firm.
  • To provide support to the department.
  • To play a part in a friendly but highly professional law firm.
  • You will draft Precedent H costs budgets, bills of cost in either three column or Precedent S version, cost statements and other written work necessary. You will be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • To negotiate costs and draft Court proceedings in necessary form to recover costs.
  • To develop advocacy skills and eventually undertake appropriate advocacy.
  • Advise fee earners on costs law and procedure related issues.
  • To help develop the department beyond existing internal and external clients.
  • To participate in marketing activities whether on a firmwide, or departmental basis.
  • Financial control with particular regard to cash flow control through the collection of monies on account and billing procedures.
  • To undertake any specific training when required and have a responsibility towards self-development.
    To abide by all Health and Safety regulations.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of relevant costs litigation and drafting experience.
  • Proficient in using Costs Master software.
