Just 1% Of Men Take Shared Parental Leave

The introduction of shared parental leave was a significant step in terms of developing a more family friendly culture. It would however be naïve to expect a significant uptake by fathers at such an early stage. Together with other attempts to share family related rights amongst a wider spectrum of employees however, we will over time start to see a shift in attitude where more fathers exercise their right to take this type of leave. Only with the introduction of entitlement to salary during shared leave however will there be any significant uptake by fathers.
