We supported our client through a high value, complex legal argument following a dispute over a financial settlement.
What was the client’s situation?
Our client’s late sister had agreed to a financial settlement with her ex-partner when their relationship ended in 2009, five years before her death. Our client needed legal representation when the ex-partner claimed her late sister had ‘misrepresented her wealth’ by applying to the Court to set aside the original consent order, with a view to negotiating a new agreement following a re-evaluation of the estate.
What did we do?
We acted on behalf of our client, as respondent to the application. This was a challenging case which had to be handled sensitively. This is a case which really shows how quickly the law evolves and that sometimes subsequent judgments can bind a historic action. The case involved complex legal arguments surrounding a very sensitive case involving a deceased party and her family. The case was settled.
