22nd June 2009Manchester-based law firm Glaisyers Solicitors LLP advised Clough Smith Rail Limited on a major construction contract which is part of a £24m improvement of ScotRail’s Shields depot in the South of Glasgow.
Aberdeen-based First ScotRail, part of FirstGroup Plc, is now in its fifth year of franchise from the Scottish government and has recently been granted a three-year extension to provide rail services for the Commonwealth Games in 2014.

Tony Simpson, managing director of Clough Smith Rail, added: “We are delighted to be involved with this project which we were awarded because of our acknowledged expertise in this field. The final contract will form an excellent framework for the work ahead.”
Glaisyers worked with consultant Beate Nicholls, of Senlai Associates in Milton Keynes, who lead the Clough Smith team. In-house contracts manager, Andrew Kennedy, acted for Siemens Plc.
